Description
Please join SDMB April 11-13, 2024 at Round the Mountain Campground (5000ft) for a weekend of Bike Riding, Trail Work, Hiking and Camping. Traill work location is lower Ladybug. Work will consist of tread improvement and brush clearing work. .
Registration is required to manage camping capacity and tools. If you are bringing a friend or partner plans to work please add them as a +1.
Round the Mountain Campground does not have water or toilets. However, there are pit toilets 1/4 mile away at Noon Creek Picnic Area. We recommend bringing at least 3 gallons of water per person for the weekend. At the base, Mt Graham General Store has gas, ice and most of the basics if you forget something. They close at 830pm. Friday night is for arrival and camping. Volunteers need to be at camp at Saturday and Sunday mornings at 830am for our safety talk. We usually roll out for 1/2 of work at 9am. Folks ride/hike/chill after trail work. Generally we try to coordinate shuttles among volunteers. It's always fun!
Tools will be provided. Head and eye protection is required; bring a hard hat or bike helmet if you have one.
Volunteers need to bring:
Camping gear and food for the weekend
Appropriate clothing for temps ranging from low 70s to high 30's (mountain weather).
Work gloves, head protection, eye protection.Trail shoes or hiking boots, a pack, and bladder/bottles that can carry min. 3 liters of water.
New to trail work? We will train you on site. Here are some videos to help: Trails Skills Institute Area info here: Mt Graham Visitor Guide
