Mt Graham WKND August 8-10

Please join SDMB August 8-10 at Shannon Campground (8900ft) for a weekend of Bike Riding, Trail Work, Hiking and Camping. Work zone will likely be on the Heliograph trail. Volunteers need to be ready for the saftey meeting each day at 8:30 am. We work half days through lunch and then get back to camp relax for a bit and then head out for rides or hikes depending on your preference. Shuttles are generally coordinated among the group so if you have a bike rack please bring it. 

Shannon Campground has pit toilets on site. Water can be filled at Upper Arcadia Camp on the way up the mountain or at Treasure Park about 10 min beyond Shannon. Shannon campground is smaller so we don't recommend trailers. SDMB will have the double site at the end of the Shannon Loop at the 11o'clock position. Check in at site 5 to help you get situated. Do not pay for camping. It will either be covered by the USFS or SDMB.  For folks with trailers here are spots very close by that trailers can easily set up at. Message us for details. At the base, Mt Graham General Store has gas, ice and most of the basics if you forget something. They close at 9pm.

Tools will be provided. Head and eye protection is required; bring a hard hat or bike helmet if you have one.

Volunteers need to bring:

Work gloves, head protection, eye protection. Pack to carry food/tools/water

Camping gear and food for the weekend

Appropriate clothing for temps ranging from the 80's to low 40's (mountain weather). Rain is a real possiblity in August. 

Trail shoes or hiking boots, a pack, and bladder/bottles that can carry min. 3 liters of water.
