Tucson 10'er Trail Tune Up

SDMB brings the fun - Tucson 10’er Trail Tune Up!! 

Please join SDMB and Pima County Sunday, January 4, to help with a quick trail tune-up at the Tucson 10’er course ahead of the main event January 17. 

Join us at the Ironwood Picnic area on the West-West side of Tucson Mountain Park off of Kinney road near Old Tucson! We will have some snacks and cold beverages for after the event!

We will be working the trail west and east of Kinney Road to fix drainage issues, repair erosion, and rehab tread to sustainable standards and a safer and more enjoyable experience for all trail users. 

We’re hoping to have a total of 20-30 participants including two groups of 5-10 for tread repair and youth from El Grupo Youth Cycling with coaches and parents, who will be working on light brushing, minor tread repair, and  naturalizing a short piece where a corner has been widened on the west side of Kinney Road. 

Expect to hike about a mile each way, carrying tools, snacks, and water - bring a pack. Anyone is welcome, we will provide everything you need to be safe and get good work done including safety talk, on the trail training, tools, PPE - gloves, hard hats, and safety glasses if needed (sunglasses work too), and each group will have an experienced crew leader on site to lead the work.

What to bring:

--Two liters of water

--Trail Snacks

--Sun protection

--Closed toed shoes

--Work gloves – they will have some to lend out

--Eye protection – they will have some to lend out
