Afernoon Session - Co-ed MTB Skills Clinic: Sat Apr 12, 2025 @ La Posta Quemada Ranch
Questions for ya: Do curbs, rocks and other earth-protruding obstacles stop you in your tracks? Do loose rocks on a descent make ya (want to) grab a bun of brakes? Are you unsure of when to shift on those pesky uphills? We’ve got you!
Guess who’s back? The Dynamic Duo! Stoked to partner with BICP–Certified MTB Coaches Jody and Danny and heard they are bringing a big dose of MTB confidence-boosting skills instruction for everyone!
What will we do? In this clinic, we will tackle our staple/foundational (to ALL SKILLS) fundamentals (bike/body position and separation; climbing, descending, cornering, and … wheel lifts!) We will then break out into a couple of ON TRAIL sessions where you can apply these newly learned or refined skills! Get ready for pictures, videos and lots of feedback.
Who are the coaches? BICP-Certified Coaches Jody Bartz from Sonoran Endurance and Danny (The Destroyer) Vazquez will bring you a SAFE, FUN, CONFIDENCE-BOOSTING day of learning on your mountain bike!
When is this clinic?: Saturday, April 12, 2025, 1:00pm - 5:00pm; sparkling water and snacks will be provided post clinic!
Where is this clinic?: La Posta Quemada Ranch within Colossal Cave Mountain Park, 16721 E Old Spanish Trail, Vail, AZ 85641. PLEASE NOTE: You must enter through the MAIN Colossal Cave Entrance off Old Spanish Trail (Google or Apple Maps may try to route you to the "back" entrance with a gate that will be closed!). As soon as you pass the park entrance off Old Spanish Trail, veer toward the right (look for "ranch" sign), continue down that road until you see PQ sign on your left! Go down the dirt road, you will come up to a large parking lot. There is a large statue of a cowboy on a horse. There are restrooms and picnic tables.
How many can attend? ALL are welcome; clinic is limited to 10 riders. Youth under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult (as a clinic participant).
What do I need to bring? Please note, other than a brief bike check, we will NOT spend time learning about our bikes (as we have in some clinics). We will spend as much time as we can ON BIKES. You are expected to have a properly working mountain bike (no e-bikes allowed), properly fitting helmet, AND flat pedals. Once registered, Coach Jody will send you an email with more information.
COST: $20 SDMB member; $60 Non-member ($40 goes to a one year SDMB membership, so your next classes will be just $20).
These clinics are made possible by a generous support grant from the Harris Foundation. You get top notch certified coaches for a fraction of the cost (Clinic value $120!). In line with best practice, clinics are kept small so there will be solid 1:1 coaching time!
