Description

SDMB is partnering with the Arizona Trail Association on Saturday March 7th, 2026 to support our shared goal of creating more single track in Southern AZ.

Please join the Arizona Trail Association  and SDMB trail work event on March 7th on Passage 5 in the Santa Rita Foothills Region near Sonoita. We will be meeting in Box Canyon and Greaterville road.

We are moving the trail off of the dirt road and onto new single track through this region.  Our project area is 1 mile from the trailhead, so we anticipate hiking between 2 and 3 miles for the day with our tools. This project is rated easy - accessible to first time volunteers, volunteers with families or individuals with limited physical capacity.

Our project will focus on construction  [building new trail tread]. This means we’ll be working with Mcleods, pick mattocks, rogue hoes, spades, and rakes, but other kinds of tasks may be needed once we are on site.

All tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. No prior trail work experience is required - we’ll provide necessary instruction and guidance for new volunteers.

Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes. Bring sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, headcovering, etc.), 2L of drinking water, and your own snacks.  Lunch will be provided.

Access to the meeting site is on a dirt road, passable with a passenger car.  Details for meeting location and final instructions will be provided to registered volunteers a couple of days in advance of the event.

If you have any questions or would like more information about the event, please contact the event host, Leif.

Space is limited - reserve your spot today!
